My work is holistic and environmental: I distill black lotus ink from flower donations to temples. The brown washes are derived from Australian gum tree bark. My crayon strokes (as here, the sky) are created from natural beeswax coloured with petal ash. A hint of yellow within the sunrise comes from soursop flowers. The 24-karat gold is artisanal gold leaf from Mandalay, hand hammered ultra thin. The glimmer of pure gold applied to these works symbolically shows us a shining new path or road.
The process of manually creating my colours is extensive, using classic time-worn techniques I've learned during extensive travels and living in SE Asia over decades. My art is produced with love and gratitude, reflecting the natural elements of Cambodia as well as my return home in Outback Australia.
