Lotus Impressions

As I stand before a blank piece of paper, I’m enveloped in a world of emotion and intuition. With a fresh cut lotus stalk as my brush and some ink I’ve made from lotus petal I commence with one dot. They flow from my heart, guided by a vision that is in my minds eye and I see it for the first time when I step back and gaze upon the finished piece. In that moment, I’m electrified by a surge of joy and pride. It’s as if the artwork has taken on a life of its own, speaking directly to the soul.

For me, creating art is a journey of self-discovery, a way to tap into the deepest recesses of my own emotions and experiences. And when I share my art with others, I’m inviting them to connect with me on a profound level. I hope you’ll find a piece that resonates with you, that sparks a sense of recognition or wonder.

When I paint, it not just the finished artwork, it’s the effort, it’s the ink I make, it’s the meaning behind the creation.  It’s the emotions I try to impart as I create the work into the brush strokes.  It’s also the beautiful locations I am able to paint in.

Lotus ink

After a Buddhist celebration is held at a local temple, we collect massive loads of discarded lotus flowers to dry. The petals are burned and the ash is then stored for twelve months, blended with rain water.

This lotus flower ink
is used in Morrison’s artworks.
