Monsoon Pram (#5)

Categories: ,

Monsoon in Cambodia is my favourite season.  As I was painting my first lotus artwork for the year, a monsoon hit and the skies opened up and rain fell upon Phnom Penh. The power of this season’s rains exhilarates me. The daily heat and the tension in the atmosphere builds up until finally when the afternoon monsoon hit, its deluge creates a coolness and an energy that fills the atmosphere. It is the calm after the storm, a cooling calm.

As the afternoon monsoon is near its completion, the air is fresh, cool and light once again. It energy has filled the atmosphere and the earth has been cleansed once again. Water is everywhere, rushing to find a river or a lake. Its this time of day during the monsoon season that makes it all worth the buildup of the heat and humidity during the day.
