Monsoon Pram Muoy (#6)

Categories: ,

Monsoon in Cambodia is my favourite season.  As I was painting my first lotus artwork for the year, a monsoon hit and the skies opened up and rain fell upon Phnom Penh. The power of this season’s rains exhilarates me. The daily heat and the tension in the atmosphere builds up until finally when the afternoon monsoon hit, its deluge creates a coolness and an energy that fills the atmosphere. It is the calm after the storm, a cooling calm.

As the monsoons roll in and crash down in the afternoons, they bringing a refreshing relief to the heat of the days. Visiting the temples during a down pour is a magical experience, as the ancient carved walls at the temples channel the way the waters will flow.
