Monsoon Buon (#4)
Monsoon in Cambodia is my favourite season. As I was painting my first lotus artwork for the year, a monsoon hit and the skies opened up and rain fell upon Phnom Penh. The power of this season’s rains exhilarates me. The daily heat and the tension in the atmosphere builds up until finally when the afternoon monsoon hit, its deluge creates a coolness and an energy that fills the atmosphere. It is the calm after the storm, a cooling calm.
Buckets of rain are falling from the black monsoon clouds, the winds are sweeping it from side to side. You need to hold onto something so you’re not swept away with the power of the wind and rain. The monsoon deluge only last a few minutes, but the water is up past your knees.
